SOLAR CELLS RESEARCH
Our Photovoltaic Material Laboratory is at the forefront of developing cutting-edge chalcogenide-based photovoltaic technologies, with a primary focus on materials such as Sb2Se3 and SbSeI for both outdoor and indoor applications. In addition to these, we are also exploring novel chalcogenide materials like GeS, Zn(Al,In)2S4, and ABX3 (A=Sn, B=Zr, Ti, X=S, Se) at both fundamental and device levels. Our group’s expertise and competence are concentrated in the following areas:
- Structural characterization of chalcogenide crystals, thin films, and the resulting device structures.
- Deposition of Sb-based and other chalcogenide thin films using vacuum deposition methods, including vapor transport deposition and (rapid) thermal evaporation.
- Formation of window and buffer layers, such as TiO2, ZnO, Cu2O, and ZnIn2S4, using solution-based and vacuum deposition methods.
- Comprehensive characterization of solar cell performance under various illumination conditions.
- Development of new characterization methods and equipment.
